Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fail one component?
No. You must achieve the minimum passing score in EACH component category (Cardio, Strength, Endurance) based on your age/gender bracket. Additionally, your total composite score must be at least 75.0 points to pass.
What if I am exempt from Cardio?
If you have a medical profile exempting you from the Cardio component, your PFA score is calculated based on the remaining components, and the "Satisfactory" and "Excellent" cutoffs are adjusted proportionally.
Is the waist tape test part of the score?
No. As of 2024, the Body Composition Assessment (Tape Test) is separated from the PFA Score. It is still a requirement to meet DoD standards, but it does not contribute points to your fitness test.
